We do apologise for lack of updates, but we've been busy busy busy, some of us more so than others. For example, former Swirl Girl Pris is now the proud designer of her own label.

Fashion diary photos are stuck in limbo due to some uploading problems, but here's the latest distraction during my work day: Looklet.

Here's what I'd like to be wearing for my upcoming Bangkok weekender for my crazy friend's "hen trip". A girl can dream, right?

As if I'd really wear heels to go shopping. But this is just make-believe, right?

There are gonna be nights of hard partying. The bride-to-be is scared and, frankly, so am I.

Morning-after hangover outfit. But the shopping must go on.

Now to assemble something similar from my wardrobe. Stay tuned for actual outfit photos after my trip!

A "public service announcement" on behalf of the Swop event (the beloved distant cousin of Swirl Swap Swop, which is on a hiatus). While the Swirl Girls are not the organisers, we still think this is a grand idea. Not only will you be able to trade for second-hand clothes from others, you can also get brand new clothes from brands such as Topshop and Adidas.

Here's what the good people at Swop say (find out more on the Swop Facebook event):

Give your wardrobe a new life by recycling and swopping your clothes! Join us at SWOP Party @ Tampines 1, you can barter away the fashion items you bought on impulse which others might find more useful.

HIGHLIGHTS:
* Donations from popular fashion brands, including Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, G2000, DIVA, Adidas and Esprit
* Refreshments – free flow of ice-creams!
* Live DJ music
* Boyfriend/Hubby Corner, with comfy chairs and magazines to keep them entertained

Admission: $5 (non-refundable), and at least 5 fashion items in good condition

All proceeds will go to Operation Hope Foundation (www.ohf.org.sg), a Singapore based charity organization that helps orphans and the poor through relief and development projects in third world countries.

A token will be issued for every fashion item donated. The items must be in good condition. Participants can use the tokens to exchange for other fashion items at the SWOP party. Every additional item without token will fetch $5 for the charity. Items that are not taken at the end of the session will be donated to Salvation Army.

Swopping is an ethical and environmentally-conscious way of getting new wardrobe by cutting down waste. Most of all, it is for a good cause as all admission fees and unredeemed items will be donated to the charity. Join us for a fun time of swopping and meeting other people!

Everyone, meet Flash! He likes balls, shuttlecocks, rubber bones, real bones, McDonald's ice cream cones, tissue paper and anything else he can put in his mouth.

This post is an example of the strange and wonderful power of the Internet and also the amazing procrastination skills of Zann.

Some nine months ago, a blog follower and customer J left a comment after seeing photos of Randolph, my super cute and adorable and photogenic Brittany spaniel. OK, so I'm a little biased.

She was going away to study and urgently needed to find someone to adopt Flash, her super cute and adorable and photogenic spaniel. And get this, he used to be a police sniffer dog. How cool is that?

We arranged for Flash to come over to meet Randolph, but alas, my super cute and adorable and photogenic dog has one major flaw. He does not play well with others.

But it so happened that my dog-lover friend M was at that fateful playdate and fell in love with Flash.

And they lived happily ever after.

(Oh and nine months later, Zann finally gets off her sorry ass and posts this on the blog, doggone it!)

the uniform project

To make up for the lack of fashion diary photos -- Sorry! Soon! Soon! Promise! -- here are some of my faves from The Uniform Project.

This brilliant project sees one girl wearing the same dress for a year. One whole year!

It can be worn front to back (with a pleat), back to front (with a row of buttons) and as a tunic (above). Talk about multi-wear!

She has seven identical dresses, one for each day of the week, in case you were wondering about practical issues. Such as laundry.

There are lots of cool ways to accessorise and layer this super versatile dress.

This is one of my favourite looks. It's completely adorable. Go check out the site, the project just started last month. Can't wait to see how the dress is transformed in the winter months.

P.S. It's not just a vanity project -- money donated will go towards The Akanksha Foundation, which provides education for children in India.

flea fly flo fun goes massive

As some of you may know, Christy is the multi-tasking mastermind behind Flea Fly Flo Fun. The original indie flea market is going massive on Saturday at F1 Pit Stop with, like, a million stalls.

Zann and her sis Sandra are setting up shop too with lots of bags, clothes and even make-up items, all priced at $10 and below. And according to Christy, there will be bargains galore, so we hope to see you!

Thank you so much for your overwhelming support this past couple of weeks.

Almost all the furniture and lights in the shop have been sold. The only items left are the microwave oven ($30), the carpets ($10 each), wooden hangers ($0.50 each), plastic hangers ($0.50 each or 10 for $3), assorted fabric ($3 per metre), trimmings ($2 per metre) and other notions like zips and vintage buttons (various prices, all below cost).

At the same time, we would like to appeal to the customer who paid for the wooden coat stand to contact us, as we were so swamped that we did not get your details. Do call us with your receipt number so we can arrange when you can collect the coat hanger. So sorry about that!

Saturday will be our last day of operation. Sad face. But we are also looking forward to new challenges ahead, which we will announce soon, hopefully. Happy face.

But don't be too sad, because the Swirl Girls will still have their online shop and you can also still find Swirl clothes at stockists such as Hide & Seek at Hong Kong Street, Odette at Raffles Place and Pluck at Haji Lane.

Now for the good news -- Clearance sale!

All past collections from Swirl will be sold at super duper bargain price of 70% off in May (applicable at Stamford House and at all stockists).

In addition, our consignors - Fashion is Spinach Vintage, Belle & Dean, Capri, Dottedline, Yumumu - are also joining in with discounts ranging from 15% to 50%.

What's more, we will also be selling our furniture in the shop as we do not have enough space to store everything. Great rejoicing after the vote of no confidence was passed with a majority of 65 per cent at the Aware EGM on May 2 at about 8:13pm.

It was an epic afternoon -- we were there from noon till 9pm! -- and a watershed in civil society. I really don't know what to say except that I am so proud to have been there and to be a woman.

swirl: redux

As hinted previously by Pris, there is indeed a Swirl: Redux collection in the works. The line consists of beloved designs that flew off the shelves in the past, but reworked in a selection of cherished vintage fabrics (above) from our stash.

As we have limited yardage of each print, pieces can be as limited as one (!), so do watch out for the launch soon, if all goes well.

But if you simply cannot wait, well, we have a new shipment of vintage dresses just in. Prints, prints and more prints! The dresses just need to be tagged and hopefully we will have them on the racks in a couple of days. Watch this space for sneak previews!

1. never been worn

A vintage dress I found at a flea market in Sydney many many years back.
I don't actually have clothes I have never worn but the reason why I am still keeping it despite it hugging me in all the wrong places is the belt! I use the belt all the time and I seriously don't want to wear this because it makes me look like a nurse!!!

I've only worn this once and as you might have guessed, I wore this to church.

It's a dress that screams church, wedding and church. So till my next church event, I am not touching it.

2. sluttiest outfit

I bought this purple slip dress at Isetan Lingerie department many years back too.It was supposed to coincide with the upcoming trend of layering many lingerie pieces together if any of you can remember. But I failed miserably in styling it so its just another slip stuck in my wardrobe.

3. Most glam outfit

It has got to be this dress I made myself. Firstly, its all GOLD, secondly everything is sewn and stitched together painfully. From the collar, which is made up of key rings dyed in gold, to the pleats I have to measure and sew together, to the mind-boogling gold cords which I sew from a cord ribbon and the scallop hem which I string together one by one.

Oh man, and of course I need a drama event to wear this! With black stockings of course!

4. Favourite piece of accessory

As you can tell, I cannot decide which is my favourite! I am a complete accessory addict! I just keep collecting and storing them in layers of drawers!

5. Best buy ever

It has got to be my very first Chanel bag. I've been a fan since I first stepped into Rue Cambon in Paris and that itch to get one is too big a temptation to resist!

And I know this post is long overdue.
